In our fairy tale unit, we have learned that fairy tales are stories which are told and retold. They are part of a community's oral tradition.
All these retellings change a story. Now, when we read a fairy tale, it might not sound anything like other versions of the same story.
In this project:
- You and your class will listen to a version of the fairy tale, Cinderella.
- You will choose another version to listen to or to read.
- When you have read/heard both stories, you will compare them.
- Then you will learn about the culture that your version of Cinderella comes from and think about how the culture might have changed the story.
